OKAMOTO Shinsuke
Born in Okayama, Japan.
He studied composition at Kyoto City University of Arts and musicology at Kyoto City University of Arts postgraduate course, currently, study composition at Kyoto City University of Arts doctoral course.
He studied composition with Noriko Nakamura, Kenji Sakai, Shuichi Maeda, Masanori Kasai, Hiroyuki Ito, Sonoko Fujii and Shozo Aoki.
He won the prize for the 12th TIAA All-Japan Composer Competition (chamber music), the Encouragement Prize in the 21st Century Japanese Music Project New Music Composition Contest for the YIS Japanese Music Ensembles, Giacomo Leopardi Special Award for International Composition Competition Forme Uniche di continuità nello spazio 2019 and the prize for the 37th JSCM Award for Composers. He won the 1st prize and special prize for Bartók World Competition 2020 and the piece was selected as one of the Competition’s semi-final repertoire in 2021.
He got the Grand Prix of the 22nd Okayama Arts and Culture Award. He got the Glorious Award of Tamano Culture and Sport Commendation.

While studying harmony under Erika Numamitsu, he is a composer, arranger and conductor at Real Notes, a professional wind ensemble led by a tuba player, Jun’ichi Koike.
